When it already feels like winter in Montreal, New York has still a fall vibe. There are still some some green and yellow leaves everywhere lightened by the warm sun.
This weekend all I felt was an energetic and alive crowd, always in a hurry and surprisingly nice and crazy people. Chestnuts vendors in the street, Salvation Army volunteers already dancing Christmas songs like is the end of the world, tourists taking all the same picture in Times square and all the languages spoken at the same time. Fashion was this time all about gold, fur and beards. Almost every store is ready for christmas, deals are coming. The ones that we connected the most were Jeff Leatham installations for Bloomingdales in Manhattan. Each window had a different theme, sparkling sense and coloured theme, and belive it or not a different SMELL! You could actually feel different in front on each one of the the bear and red roses smelled like peppermint, the reindeer like roses and musk, others like pine and more christmassy ambiance. Designers like him do more than floral arrangements. It goes beyond flowers, and is more about the experience and an art installation. These ones in particular were about all the Senses. A great inspiration for me, and one of the best memories of my trip to this evolving and high end cities of the world. |
